ERIS has an immediate opportunity for a Research Analyst conducting site history research in Ottawa with access to Reference Libraries as required. This individual will be responsible for conducting research of city, business, and specialty directories to produce historical abstract reports on the prior use(s) of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Research is performed using the various directories, catalogs, and resources that are available within the libraries. Research Analysts are instrumental to the growth of ERIS. Your job is to identify the history of a location in space using all the tools available to you and our clients depend on your expertise.

Schedule: Various hours Monday-Sunday. (The operating hours of the local library may dictate the schedule).

The successful applicant will join our Operations Team. This position is a full-time position starting immediately, working 35 hours per week working in either Toronto or Ottawa with access to Reference Libraries as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate custom reports utilizing search parameters (criteria) established by the client.
  • Work with the Canadian City Directory (CCD) research team to ensure reports have both robust and accurate content.
  • Establish routine communications with management to provide real-time updates on workflow.
  • Proactively manage a docket of client orders to maintain consistent productivity and balance of turn-around time (TAT).
  • Identify and communicate potential search parameter challenges to ensure end-user satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate notes and documents to improve the research process.
  • Time management through proper and consistent steps (order/research directories, generating reports).
  • The ability to integrate and coordinate various activities within the reference libraries as required.
  • Assisting with other data-related tasks as required.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision by management.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University (in Library Sciences, Geography, Genealogy, History, or Journalism preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Spatial aptitude is an important asset.
